Candy
Candy is a 25-year-old beautiful
Candy is an immigrant from Taiwan who arrived in New York City as a young girl. She attended a top high school in New York but failed to get into an Ivy League college, which haunts her. She blames this on her background: she's a poor immigrant who was distracted from her schoolwork because she needed to handle her family’s business and finances. Her father, nervous about survival in the United States, yelled a lot, which affected Candy negatively.
She is a self-deprecating, self-described loser who struggles with being a poor immigrant and laden with debt in a city that requires lots of money to live well. Lots of young people can relate to having tons of student loans.
She admits to contemplating committing suicide at age 17, something that many Asian women living with two cultures often try to attempt. But her will to survive is too strong. What drives her is life itself. She deals with dark situations by making jokes, having read the book, The Power of Positive Thinking, by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. Due to her lack of parental guidance, she often turns to books for

What else drives Candy:
1. Helping her siblings, since she is the eldest. She is very protective of her siblings and refuses to leave them until totally necessary. They are like her kids.
2. Her Asian parents— Tiger parents who immigrated to the United States for a better life. For examples of such Asian parents, see the Pinterest Board, High Expectations Asian Father.
3. Jade Wang, a girl in her high school who was born in the US and has rich parents who give her everything. Jade likes to shop and attract rich white boys.
4. Innate ambition and will to survive
5. Competitiveness of Asians: it is Asian to want to be the best. Parents hammer that into your being at an early age. This adds to Candy’s ambition.
Personality
She is creative in her thinking, leading her to take action that results in unusual situations: living in a women’s residence for a month, at the podiatrist office, at the Upper East Side mansion
She tries to be a good person by giving food to the homeless only to have it turned down.

They confide in each other about dating, giving her the male point of view. This is very important to her because she wants to know how men think
However, Dave might not be the right guy for the job since he’s very goofy: Not
”A friend of mine, Dave, who is constantly telling me about his dating adventures, told me that a girl kept on calling him and finally, he just told her, "Why are you calling me? Let me call you." To tell you the truth, I don't know why women want to go out with him. He's so goofy! He put up an ad on a dating site and wrote five big paragraphs about how he thinks there should be some initial mutual attraction and what he wants out of a relationship. He's always complaining about how women don't say thank you when he pays for the date. This guy is so weird. They can't say thank you after the evening is over. They must say thank you as the waiter takes away the check. That's his test for whether a woman is worth pursuing. God help any woman who orders TWO cappuccinos with her dessert.”
“As for Mr. Podiatrist, I guess I’m just not ready to be a dominatrix yet. I emailed my friend Dave about this. He emailed back: “I am
